Chenzhe Zhang

I am a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics at The Ohio State University.

My research interests are in environmental economics, energy economics, and applied microeconomics. Broadly, I study how environmental risks, climate change, and energy transitions affect economic outcomes, with a particular interest in policy evaluation, behavioral responses, and adaptation. My recent and ongoing research focuses on:

• Air pollution, environmental risk, and their effects on human and institutional outcomes
• Climate adaptation and behavioral responses to environmental stress
• Energy transition, renewable energy, and related policy evaluation
• Empirical methods for causal inference, with an emphasis on original data construction and policy-relevant applied work

I received my M.A. in Economics from Duke University. Prior to beginning my PhD, I completed my undergraduate study at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. My work lies at the intersection of environmental economics, energy economics, and applied microeconomics, and I am especially interested in combining rigorous causal inference with original data construction.
